L'alternativa possibile
The possible alternative
2 |
At Vasto on 12, 13 and 14 September we tackled so many topics like the economy, institutional reforms, information, justice, young people.

In my opening speech I traced out a clear political line, that needs to be defined and that will be a "possible alternative" to the ambiguous, contradictory line, made up of private interests of this government.
4 |
Italia dei Valori’s political line is made up of the 11 points that I talked about in my opening speech.
5 |
At Vasto, as in other settings, I have more than once prodded the Centre Left by defining them to be an opposition that has opened credit lines with a government with really bad credentials.
6 |
Centrosinistra che mi auguro possa unirsi in futuro a noi in un opposizione intransigente.
It’s a Centre Left that I hope in the future will be able to unite with us in an intransigent opposition.
7 |
But we can’t wait any longer. We have the duty in relation to the citizens who are not part of the berlusconian caste, we have the duty to represent them and to put them on guard against the dictatorial drift that has been imposed by the current majority.

Every day I will publish a part of my speech on the topics that we tackled at Vasto.

Pubblico oggi lavoro e sicurezza.

Dal mio discorso di Vasto
From my speech at Vasto:
12 |
"...Here we are, then, still here, all together, more united than ever to take forward our commitment in politics.
13 |
Politics "without ifs and buts", done with the usual clarity of language and determination in action.
14 |
All together, with the heart and the mind.
15 |
Tutti insieme per costruire una "Alternativa possibile".
All together to construct a "possible alternative".
16 |
This is the theme of this programmed gathering:
17 |
an alternative that we have the duty to look for before it is too late, before the control of information, the homogenization of culture, the blackmail against those in need take us straight towards a new dictatorship without us realizing it.
18 |
An alternative of which we of Italia dei Valori - one of the few parties remaining in Parliament to defend the principles of the rule of law, of solidarity - we now have the duty to accept responsibility for.
19 |
We have come out of the limbo of being the "little party of the niche".
20 |
The citizens expect from us serious and efficacious responses.
21 |
Many look at us as the last hope to stand up against the dominant homologation and the creeping normalization.
22 |
We have in front of us a responsibility that we can no longer avoid.
23 |
Ed a cui non vogliamo sottraci.
And that we don’t want to draw back from.
24 |
So here we are, to ask about and to decide all together our pathway for the near future.
25 |
We already have the outline of our political programme. It has been identified in the 11 points drawn up for the last national elections and we now have to refine them.
26 |
The main topics to be tackled are well known and there are lots of them.
27 |
Lavoro:
Work:
28 |
no one talks about it but precarious working is becoming each day more an unsustainable blackmail for those who have to put up with it, the workers, who by now are treated as "use once and throw away".
29 |
The Alitalia issue, but above all that of the precarious workers in schools that I will soon deal with more in detail, are just some of the outstanding examples.
30 |
We want to improve the Law number 30, so as to guarantee an income and retraining during periods of unemployment and we want to have tax advantages for precarious workers.
31 |
Sicurezza:
Security:
32 |
This has been the battle horse that has allowed the Centre Right to win.
33 |
On the other hand, Berlusconi in his first 100 days of government, has been great at thinking solely of his own security from the judges while he has reduced - with the finance manoevre of last July - by almost 3 billion, the funds allocated for the Security Sector for the next three years.
34 |
Sia chiaro:
Let it be clear:
35 |
IDV is in favour of the immediate repatriation of clandestine immigrants.
36 |
For those who have been convicted and who have problems with the justice system, we too want them to be able to serve their sentences in their country of origin.
37 |
But the problem is exactly here: we can expel criminals from our country only if they really serve their sentences in their own country, otherwise everything would come down to the umpteenth favour to the delinquents of the whole world to whom we would end up saying:
38 |
come, come here to our place, anyway we won’t do anything if you rob and kill or rape.
39 |
And then if we catch you red handed we won’t do anything, in fact we will pay for your air ticket to send you back home so that you can set off the next day and come back here and start over again.
40 |
This is why we reject the superficial propaganda with which in recent days the Centre Right is sponsoring the expulsion of criminals who are in prison.
41 |
Before expelling foreign delinquents who have committed crimes of murder, robbery, or rape here in our country we need to be sure that the countries of origin will really keep them in prison.
42 |
That - at least in relation to those countries from which these normally come from - doesn’t appear to be something that can be taken for granted.
43 |
Tutt’altro.
In fact quite the contrary.
44 |
We of IDV want to commit all our strength and political capacity to give back dignity and professionalism to the police forces, in fact to all who work in the Security Sector and also to those in Defence;
45 |
police, carabinieri, finance police, prison guards, firefighters but also our military who just recently have been sent to fight useless wars or who are used to become nice statues in certain squares of Italy to the benefit of the souvenir photo of the tourists."
