Sul Referendum e sulla presidenza dell'Abruzzo
On the Referendum and the position of President of Abruzzo
2 |
I’m publishing an interview I gave to Micromega during the third National Conference of Italia dei Valori at Vasto on the collection of signatures for the Referendum to repeal the Lodo Alfano and on the forthcoming elections in Abruzzo.
3 |
Micromega: Onorevole Di Pietro, cominciamo parlando del Lodo Alfano.
Micromega: Honourable Di Pietro, let’s start with the Lodo Alfano.
4 |
From the Democratic Party it looks as though there may be some timid openings, even though they are arriving from the "ulivista" and "prodiana" areas of the party that are by now in open conflict with the party leadership.
5 |
Come le giudica?
How do you see things?
6 |
Antonio Di Pietro: Well, first of all I would like to recall that if he hadn’t been obliged to renounce because of his party’s internal upsets, that in Sardinia are literally imploding in a way that for them is really worrying, Arturo Parisi would certainly have come to visit us here.
7 |
Noi siamo pronti a farlo.
In fact, I believe that the experience of the Democrats, those with the donkey, to be clear, have been forgotten too soon, and should once more be under consideration. We are ready to do that.
8 |
As regards the Lodo Alfano, we here in Vasto are launching a committed campaign for the collection of signatures for the referendum that will cover the whole of Italy starting from the first appointment on 11 October in Piazza Navona.
9 |
Anzi.
We are going back to the scene of the crime. Also because, that day we did nothing wrong. Quite the opposite.
10 |
Micromega: You have announced loads of dates in so many cities, practically every weekend right up until the days round Christmas, from Palermo to Udine, from Milan to Naples.
11 |
To collect signatures are you also aiming at events that are not just political but connected to civil society?
12 |
For example, isn’t it the case that Beppe Grillo is starting his new tour...?
13 |
Antonio Di Pietro: Italia dei Valori will organise its campaign in accordance with a well defined plan, with the objective of achieving the required number of signatures.
14 |
If then our tables are invited in to other types of events, that is very welcome.
15 |
We will certainly ask Grillo if we can collect signatures in the places where he has planned his show.
16 |
Micromega: Will you also collect signatures on 25 October during the national demonstration of the PD?
17 |
Antonio Di Pietro: You see, that weekend we have organised our own event on Sunday 26 October exactly so that we can participate in the PD demonstration.
18 |
Because we too are Opposition, and a demonstration against the government involves us directly.
19 |
And frankly I think that no one will come and ask us to remove our tables.
20 |
In ogni caso io i banchetti li porto, e non li tolgo.
Anyway I will take the tables there and I won’t remove them.
21 |
Micromega: Proprio qui in Abruzzo sembra materializzarsi la vostra distanza dal Pd.
Micromega: It’s right here in Abruzzo that there seems to be the source of a difference between you and the PD.
22 |
The announcement of the name of Carlo Costantini (a parliamentarian born in Pescara) as a candidate for the position of President of the Region, seems almost an act of challenge to the party of Veltroni, in a region where the PD is in a full crisis after the happenings that sees as protagonist the former governor Ottaviano Del Turco...
23 |
Antonio Di Pietro: Ours is not a challenge to the PD, but a precise and clean proposal to the people of Abruzzo, that really needs honest people who are well qualified and ready to lead the Region.
24 |
Pdl escluso, naturalmente...
Instead, I challenge anyone to say that the candidacy of Costantini is not right and I invite the PD and anyone who wants to support our candidate, of course that’s excluding the PDL.
25 |
And I would add that we are not preparing the usual game of giving indications aimed at finding a convergence on a third name after a hypothetical candidate of a PD militant.
26 |
While the others shillyshally, we have already signed the contract to do the posters with the photo of Costantini.
27 |
I’ll finish by saying that in my opinion, it’s not convenient for the PD not to support our candidate, given their situation in Abruzzo.
28 |
Credibility has to be won on the ground, starting from zero.
29 |
Micromega: In your speech you talked a lot about women and young people, giving a piece about the recognition of the de facto couples.
30 |
What is the position of the party on this issue?
31 |
And what do you think of the intentions expressed about this by the Minister who is to put the programme into effect, Gianfranco Rotondi?
32 |
Antonio Di Pietro: Una cosa alla volta.
Antonio Di Pietro: One thing at a time.
33 |
Starting from the end, what I say is that you can’t ignore the reality of millions of citizens who are already "de facto couples".
34 |
For them we need to know how to guarantee the rights that are due to them, independently of their gender and their religious affiliation.
35 |
E lo dico da cattolico praticante.
And I say that as a practicing Catholic.
36 |
For young people, I think that the issue is fairly clear. We are showing that, right now at Vasto and we have demonstrated it two months ago at Bellaria where more than two thousand young people offered us the decisive push to understand the importance of their energy and of their ideas.
37 |
It’s not casual that we are always widening our contacts by means of the tools offered by the Internet, and we are investing a lot on this type of communication, even when you see the extent to which it is blatantly ostracized by so many systems of information, that was even accentuated by Piazza Navona.
38 |
The women are here, in this room, to discuss work and politics and to choose their national coordinator with open doors, another small signal of the transparency that we want to be the special mark of the structure of our party.
39 |
Their task in particular is to devote themselves to politics and work.
40 |
For example, I am wondering why there is no more talk of "precarious" working, a drama that involves above all the women and the young people.
41 |
Micromega: But all this phase of construction and organisation of the party could see some accident on the journey.
42 |
Some are already talking about an attack on the stage coach, where all want to be part of a party that is growing fast, with the risk of the presence of those who are unwelcome and not quite "clean", above all in the south of the country.
43 |
The memory of De Gregorio is still fresh, or is it a solid risk?
44 |
Antonio Di Pietro: Bad apples can get everywhere. The difference is in those who don’t want them and those who puts them there specially.
45 |
For our part we will try to have maximum control over our political leaders. We will ask them for continual engagement with their voters by means of the blog, a precise account of their own political activities, the respect of the rule of law and of the role they are carrying out.
46 |
If Carlo Costantini is elected here in Abruzzo, he will have to take his webcam with him to the meetings of the Regional Council so that he can record everything and download it to our website.
47 |
It’s not that by doing that everything is resolved, but at least we are starting to offer a tiny control tool for the citizen, to try and find a form of direct and participated democracy.
