An
automobile, or car, is defined as a wheeled vehicle that runs by
means of a motor and transports passengers.
The
automobile wasn't invented by a single inventor. The history of
the automobile reflects a worldwide evolution.
Karl Benz, a German mechanical engineer, built the first
practical automobile in 1885. (Does his name sound familiar')
Henry Ford, in the early 1900's. improved on the assembly line
for manufacturing and invented a car transmission mechanism.
A
quotation by Henry Ford "I will build a car for the great
multitude" In 1908, he did just that, by offering a Ford Model
T for $950.
Now
after this brief introduction, the teacher shows the students
some photos of the "first cars" and then she can hand out photos
of modern day cars and the students will use them to label the
parts of a car.
Ex. Roof, hood, bumper, trunk, fenders, headlights...
Next
