A VERY BIG THANK
YOU FROM
THE ENGLISH GRATIS TEAM!

There are so many word categories to choose from:
Fruit • Vegetables
• Ways to cook
• Flowers •
Trees • Precious stones
• Languages •
Countries • Nationalities
• Colours •
Shapes • Clothes etc.
When the students read an article in English, encourage them to
add on words to the categories they already have, or else add
new categories. They will find it interesting to see how many
new words they can learn in this way.
Labelling photos can also be useful. Try to have
available interesting photos depicting as many items as
possible. Simply draw a line from the item and them write its
name next to it. This activity “bypasses” the need to translate
the words. The English word is “connected” to its image.
You can start labelling the Rooms of a House. The students can
help you hunt up photos from their magazines at home, or else
use photos taken from Internet.
It wouldn‘t be a bad idea to “collect” magazines of all kinds so
the vocabulary words are varied.
A Nice Thought:
“A different language is a different vision of life.”
(Federico Fellini)
