People
love to talk about the weather. It's a way to break the ice,
that is, start a conversation. The weather is a neutral topic so
it is often used even when talking to strangers.
A simple
"weather conversation" can start out with the basics.
I heard it's going to get very hot and humid today.
The forecast calls for rain.
It's going to get very chilly this evening.
The weatherman says tomorrow will be a beautiful day.
It may stop snowing this afternoon.
These
simple statements can be varied according to the season.
This has been the hottest summer in years.
We never have good Spring weather anymore.
This Fall is going to be very mild.
I heard it's going to snow the entire month.

the high 90's (Fahrenheit) By late evening clouds will appear
and there is a chance of thunderstorms. Don't leave home
without your umbrella!
The
students can also simulate a conversation, let's say talking to
someone on a bus, and the topic is weather. (obviously!)
We often
complain about the weather.
This heat
is just terrible. You can fry an egg on the pavement!
I melt in the heat!

I know what you mean. I feel that way too!
Maybe the
students can try to make up some "weather complaints" too!
