I already spoke
about adjectives and how important they are. I’d like to suggest
making lists of adjectives to describe certain persons or
things.
Here are some examples.
Adjectives to describe a HOUSE
Modern up-to-date rustic
traditional
Run down well-built
spacious comfortable
Roomy isolated ecological
restructured
Adjectives to describe FOOD
Delicious tasty spicy salty
bland
Peppery exotic rich heavy
tempting
Appetizing
Adjectives to
describe CHILDREN
Cute active lively wild
sweet docile
Courteous polite noisy smart
quiet well-mannered
Obedient creative lovable talkative
respectful disrespectful
Adjectives to
describe a CAR
Technological ecological efficient gas
consuming fast
Secure safe
modern dangerous powerful
Compact luxurious
This can be a
useful activity. The students will choose a topic and then try
to find all the adjectives they can to describe it. They can
also add to the above lists.
This adjective
“awareness” is very positive.
A “fun” project can be to have each student write a list of
adjectives to describe themselves. I tried this once. I gave
them a cut-out in the form of a T-shirt, and told them to
“fill” it up with their adjectives. (Use coloured
paper, please!) Don’t forget to post them around the room for
others to read!
A Nice Thought.

hands.” Anne Frank
