Many people are fascinated by
California. What comes to mind is, Hollywood, San Francisco, Los
Angeles…
Here is more information about this beautiful state.
The state of California is located on the Pacific
coast of the U.S.A.. The state capital is Sacramento and
the population is over 25 million inhabitants.
Eighty-five per cent of the population lives in
the urban areas of San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and
Oakland.
Death Valley, in the southeast, is 282
feet below sea level, the lowest point in the nation, and
Mount McKinley (14,495 feet) is the highest point in the
continental U.S..
A trip to California would not be complete
without visiting San Francisco. It covers an area of 80
kilometers, with a population that exceeds 678,000 inhabitants.
This splendid city is built on 43 hills and cable cars
are the city's characteristic means of transportation.
San Francisco's Chinatown is made up of 24
blocks where you can find exotic shops, small museums and some
of the best Chinese restaurants.
Fisherman's Wharf instead, is famous for
its fishing boats that fish every night in the waters by the
Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is the third
longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge is
periodically painted to maintain its original orange colour.
Now that your students are really to pack and
start out for California, let them look for more information
about what California has to offer the tourist.
They can use all this information by preparing a
dialogue between two friends who are planning their California
"dream" vacation.
It's also possible for them to "act out" a
tourist who is at a travel agency and wishes to book a flight to
California. The agent can suggest a hotel and the various places
of interest to see.
A Nice Thought

a place as with a person."
