Most people like
going to the cinema (movies, in American usage) and generally
like to talk about it.
I thought this
would be an interesting topic of conversation.
Here are some
suggested phrases.
What’s playing at the cinema?
What’s the title of the film?
Is it an Italian film or an American film?
Who’s starring in the film?
What’s the film about?
Where does the film take place?
Is it based on fiction or is it reality?
Did the film win an Oscar?
Did the stars win an Oscar?
We can also have
the students discuss films they have seen on TV.
Have you ever seen
this film before?
When did you see it?
Was it on TV recently?
Did you enjoy it?
Did you like the stars in the
film?
Have you seen these stars in
other films?
What is your favourite film?
Who is
your favourite actor or actress?
I noticed in
Internet there are summaries for films written in English. It
would be fun to choose some films, photocopy the summaries and
distribute them to the students. They can work in groups and
use the information to stimulate a conversation about the film,
using some of the above questions.
