Let's introduce situations
that are actual in the life of a student.
How about planning a birthday party? In English, of course!!!
The students can decide to
make up a guest list and then prepare a written invitation.

How to get there:
By car: Take the Expressway to Exit 10, turn right and go ahead
till you get to Hall Street. The house is on the left.
By bus: Take the Main Street Bus, Number 75 and get off at the
Hall Street Stop, across the street from the Public Library.

Each guest can bring
something for the buffet table.
Drinks can include, sodas, beer, juices, wine, mineral water
The students can decide on
the decorations.
Balloons, flowers, centrepieces, etc.
Decoration themes: music, Hollywood stars, films,
sports, New York City, etc.
Let the students use their imagination. They may ask all the
guests to wear something red, or a white t-shirt with jeans.
They can write a short
dialogue for ordering a birthday cake.

Entertainment:
They can write a short dialogue telephoning someone asking him
to play and sing with his group at the party.
Discuss the songs they can play.
How many are in the group.
The students can work in
small groups. Each group will have one of the above preparations
to do. Write invitation, dialogues etc.
Planning a party requires
creativity and lots of details. But it's fun too!!!
