WITH A VERY BIG THANK YOU FROM THE ENGLISH GRATIS TEAM!

k

Very often you’ll find your students have difficulties with writing numbers.
It seem they have no problems from one to ten, but soon they get confused.

Start them out by counting everything there is in the room;
Count all the pencils on the teacher’s desk
All the papers on the bulletin board.
All the books on the library shelf.
All the desks in the room.

To arrive at larger numbers they can count:
All the HANDS in the room.
All the FEET in the room.
All the chairs in the room.

                            (Remember to include the teacher’s)

Once they seem to feel confident , then  let them try to write down the numbers the teacher calls out.
Try having some students come to the blackboard and once corrected, the children can correct what they wrote in their notebooks.

Now it’s time for the students to call out numbers.  Invite a few students to the front of the room and let them take over.

If they are getting courageous, show them how to count from one hundred to two hundred.  Every now and then stop the class and have someone come to the board and write the next five numbers.
Ex, the class is counting and when they arrive at 125, call a child to write  the next 5 numbers then the class will continue counting...
In  this way, the children have to stay alert in case they are called.

We must remember that if the students participate, we have their full attention and it’s more likely that they will be learning.

One more piece of advise for teachers of young children.  If they seem to tire , change the activity immediately.  We always have to take into consideration a child’s attention span.

A Nice Thought

“Children are one-third of our population and all of our future.”
