Be polite!
GOD BLESS MY LITTLE ENGLISH CLASS - UN BLOG PER INSEGNANTI DI INGLESE CHE VOGLIONO INSEGNARE AI BAMBINI IN MODO PIACEVOLE E CREATIVO!
Blog di
Elaine Bertolotti
WITH A VERY BIG THANK YOU FROM THE ENGLISH GRATIS TEAM!

k

It’s very important to teach young children how to be polite, so let’s do it in English too!
What are the nicest “polite words” in English?

PLEASE      and     THANK YOU
YOU’RE WELCOME

Teach the children how to ask for something, using the formula, “May I have…”
Have various objects on a table,  a book, a pencil, a pen, a marker, a ruler, an eraser,  etc.  Pronounce the words together.

Demonstrate:  May I have a pen, PLEASE?
The student will give you a pen, then you answer, THANK YOU.
And the student replies, YOU’RE WELCOME.
Have the students try.

Now they can try this activity.
Offering something to someone
Would you like …….?
Have available photos of a cup of tea
                                        an ice cream cone
                                        an apple
                                        a banana
                                        a glass of water
                                        a cup of hot chocolate
The students can accept……YES, PLEASE
                      Not accept……NO, THANK YOU.

Let all the students participate.  If the class is large, you can work with small groups, giving the other groups a drawing activity, or a game Box activity. (matching pictures with word cards)

A Nice Thought
