From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arenation is a kind of
therapeutic dry
bath, in which hot
sand
is sprinkled upon a patient. The term is from the
Latin
arenatio, from arena, "sand". Part of the training
for
gladiators in
ancient Rome involved a form of arenation, in which they
sunbathed nude on a sandy beach.
