Angeles Auto Show
The Chevrolet SS was a
concept car created by the
Chevrolet division of
General Motors and introduced at the
2003
North American International Auto Show. The SS (which stands
for
Super Sport) was intended to be a modern version of past
SS vehicles, such as the
Camaro and
Chevelle.
Engine
The SS used an all-aluminum
6.0 L V8
engine rated at about 430 hp and 430 ft·lbf of torque. The
suspension of the SS was tuned for the likes of a
race car. The integrated exhaust pipes on the SS were
similar to those of historical
muscle cars. An 8.0 L 850 horsepower engine was originally
installed in the car, but due to street legality issues, it was
removed.
Design

The design of the SS was very modern, yet it also paid homage
to earlier muscle cars. It featured vinyl and leather seats. It
also had features from earlier Chevrolet muscle cars, such as
the horseshoe-shaped shifter. It also integrated modern
electronics, such as a
DVD
player and an audio system complete with
satellite radio.
