Stenograph

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stenograph Corporation is a U.S. manufacturer of equipment for court reporters, including stenotype machines and computer-aided transcription software. Other product lines include closed captioning software and court reporting supplies, such as stenotype paper and transcript folders. Stenograph also provides training materials, curricula, and courses for court reporters and captioners.

The word "stenograph" is often incorrectly used as a generic term for stenotype equipment and writing theories, despite being a registered trademark of the company.

Stenograph Corporation was formed in 1938. Since its inception, it has purchased a number of competing firms, including businesses bigger than itself, and is now the largest supplier of court reporting equipment. Some of the companies acquired by Stenograph include BaronData, Xscribe, and MicroCAT.

Company headquarters are in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
