Cathy	(In the supermarket) Good morning Mr. Khan. Reporting for duty!	(Dentro al supermercato) Buongiorno signor Khan. Sono qui pronta a prendere servizio!
Khan	Oh, good morning Mrs. West. I’m so glad you’re here. My daughter usually substitutes me in the mornings for a couple of hours but she had to go to the doctor’s today, so I’m minding her little boy.	Ah, buongiorno signora West. Sono così felice che lei sia qui. Mia figlia di solito mi sostituisce al mattino per un paio d'ore ma oggi è dovuta andare dal medico, cosi sto badando al suo piccolino.
Little Boy of three Un bambinetto di tre anni:	Hello. Would you like to meet Ben, my teddy? (He holds up a white teddy-bear nearly as large as himself).	Ciao. Vuoi parlare1 con Ben, il mio orsetto di peluche? (Sorregge un orsetto di peluche bianco grande quasi2 quanto lui3).

Khan	Well I hope you like our Indian specialities. We’ve got a bit of everything here. Now I must go and have my breakfast – my wife is preparing it. See you later! Cathy	You’ll just have to wait a bit for your tea. Mr. Khan had to go out at half past twelve and asked me to stay a bit longer today.	Dovrai aspettare un po’ per la merenda. Il signor Kahn ha dovuto uscire alle dodici e mezzo e mi ha chiesto di rimanere un po’ più a lungo oggi.
Jade	Oh Mum! Your first day here! You told us you’d be here only four hours in the mornings – and it’s four o’clock now!	Ma mamma! Proprio il tuo primo giorno di lavoro qui! Ci avevi detto che saresti rimasta solo quattro ore al mattino – e adesso sono le quattro del pomeriggio!
Cathy	Well, Mr. Khan is very kind and we need the money Jade. Here’s the key - just let yourselves in and begin doing your homework! If you want something to eat there’ s still some jam tart left! Cathy	Yes, indeed we have – look - over there on the right!	Sì, certo, ne abbiamo - guardi - laggiù sulla destra!
Male customer:	I can’t find the chutney anywhere!	Un cliente: Non riesco a trovare del chutney da nessuna parte!
Cathy	Just follow me sir. It’s a bit high up on the shelf in the corner.	Mi segua! È un po' in alto sullo scaffale d'angolo.
Khan	(returning) Hello again Mrs. West. Everything OK? Sorry I was so long.	(ritornando) Di nuovo buongiorno, signora West. Tutto bene? Spiacente di esser stato via cosí a lungo.
Cathy	Don’t worry! Now I really must rush off home to the children. Goodbye – see you tomorrow morning! Oh, I’ve forgotten to buy some cocoa! Both my kids drink a cup before going to bed!	Non si preoccupi! Adesso però devo davvero correre a casa dai miei ragazzi. Buona serata e arrivederci a domani mattina! Caspita, ho dimenticato di comprare del cacao!
